Kazakhstan were the happier of the two sides as they celebrated the result via their official X handle. They shared this post:

Belgium failed to beat 10-man Kazakhstan in the Match-Day 7 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier. The Group J encounter played at the Astana Arena was keenly contested despite the Belgians dominating possession.

Nottingham Forest shot-stopper, Matz Sels was preferred in goal over the inexperienced Senne Lammens, who just moved to England. Lammens revealed that he has wanted a chance to sign with Manchester United, now he is playing for the club and has earned a national team call-up.

Kazakhstan opened scoring in the ninth minute through 17-year-old, Dastan Satpayev. His goal woke Belgium up as they increased the tempo in search of the equaliser. Temirlan Anarbekov made some fine saves to ensure his side went into the break with a 1-0 lead. Belgium came out flying in the second half and got a deserved equalized in the 48th minute when Hans Vanaken headed in Timothy Castagne’s cross to make it 1-1.
