FC Bayern Munich have confirmed that rising star Lennart Karl has suffered a hamstring strain, dealing a setback during a crucial stage of the season, Softfootball reports. As revealed by Fabrizio Romano on his official X handle, Karl will be sidelined for the time being.

Romano posted:

Lennart Karl suffered a hamstring strain and will be sidelined for the time being, Bayern confirm.

The 18-year-old attacking midfielder, who recently signed a new contract running until June 2029, has been one of Bayern’s standout young performers this campaign. Wearing the No. 42 shirt, Karl has enjoyed a breakout season, contributing important goals and assists in the UEFA Champions League while showcasing his versatility across attacking roles.

His rapid development was further recognized earlier this year when he received his first senior call-up to the Germany national football team, with head coach Julian Nagelsmann placing his trust in the young talent ahead of upcoming international fixtures.

The injury, although described as temporary, comes at a challenging time for Bayern as they compete in both the Bundesliga title race and the latter stages of the Champions League. Karl’s absence could test the squad’s depth, particularly given his growing influence in key matches.

Despite the setback, the club remains optimistic about his recovery, with expectations that he will return before the end of the season. His recent contract extension and continued progression underline Bayern’s long-term belief in his potential.
