Bayern Confident of Landing Luis Díaz as Liverpool Demand Creative Deal Structure

Bayern Munich are growing in confidence that they can seal a deal for Liverpool winger Luis Díaz within the next week or so, sources close to the negotiations have told Softfootball. The German champions have set a transfer cap at €85 million, with their target price believed to be closer to €75 million.

In a bid to bridge the gap between their offer and Liverpool’s €100 million valuation, Bayern are exploring alternative financial options, including a potential sell-on clause.

That clause would allow Liverpool to earn a percentage of any future fee if Díaz is sold, particularly to a club in Saudi Arabia, where his name has reportedly drawn attention in the past.

Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano reported via his official X account that Bayern remain firm in their pursuit.

He wrote:

“Bayern new proposal for Luis Diaz, set to be sent soon as planned since last weekend.

“Liverpool aware of player’s desire to leave the club and talks will continue to discuss details of the financial package with Bayern.”

Díaz is Bayern’s number one target this summer after their initial interest in Stuttgart forward Nick Woltemade stalled. Negotiations with the Swabians have proven difficult, and Bayern have now shifted their focus fully to the Colombian international.

There’s also been talk of Bayern looking at Xavi Simons, but that deal is expected to be just as expensive, if not more so, than Díaz. Barcelona, who admire the Liverpool winger, have reportedly stepped back after acknowledging they can’t meet the Reds’ €100m price tag.

Díaz, who joined Liverpool from FC Porto in January 2022 for around £50 million, has made it clear he wants a new contract or a fresh challenge.

The 27-year-old enjoyed a strong 2024/25 season, scoring 13 goals in 36 league games and helping Liverpool lift the Premier League title. In total, he has contributed 41 goals and 23 assists in 148 appearances for the Merseyside club.
