Lazio manager Marco Baroni has backed Fisayo Dele-Bashiru to develop into one of the finest midfielders in world football, provided the Nigerian continues improving key areas of his game.

Dele-Bashiru starred in Lazio’s 3-1 Europa League win at Ajax on Thursday, scoring his side’s second goal in what proved to be a thrilling encounter in Amsterdam. Softfootball notes that it marked his second goal in the competition for Lazio this season.

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia, Baroni explained the specific areas the midfielder still needs to work on despite his obvious talent. He said:

Dele-Bashiru comes from a different football where he doesn’t need as much focus. His physicality is devastating and he has good technique.

Baroni added that the key to unlocking his full potential lies in matching his physical attributes with quicker decision-making. He continued:

Where he needs to improve and he is doing that is matching the speed of his brain to his legs. When he does that, he becomes really a remarkable midfielder.
