Barcelona star Lamine Yamal stuck in Turkey after losing his passport

Barcelona’s young star Lamine Yamal is reportedly unable to leave Turkey after losing his passport. The player misplaced the document following Spain’s Euro qualifier against Turkiye on Sunday.

The European champions ran riot at the Konya Metropolitan Municipality Stadium, with Arsenal’s Mikel Merino bagging a hat-trick, Pedri helping himself to a brace and fellow Barcelona teammate Ferran Torres also getting in on the act.

While there was no drama for Yamal to contend with on the field, it was a different matter when attempting to head home. While sitting on the team bus, it emerged that he had misplaced an important document.

According to a video shared on X by journalist Emir, the Spaniard  was seen frantically searching for his passport.  Despite his effort, he was unable to recover the document and left the Stadium without it. Emir updated fans on the situation on his X handle, writing:

Lamine Yamal lost his passport. After the match, Lamine Yamal searched for his passport for a long time, returned to the locker room, and looked for it there as well. He left the stadium without finding it.

Yaml was clearly fuming at himself for failing to keep tabs of his passport, as he was forced to rummage through his suitcase on the floor of the car park underneath the Torku Arena in Konya. That search proved fruitless.

Softfootball understands that Yamal’s passport may have been misplaced during the transition from the Airport to the hotel or on the team bus. The situation has garnered significant attention with the Spanish Federation reportedly informing Turkish authorities about the incident.

The Barcelona star featured prominently in his nation’s emphatic 6-0 win after shaking off a slight knock that had cast some doubt over his involvement. He was able to complete 73 minutes, delivering two assists in a standout display.

The level of celebrity that Yamal now boasts means that he is in the fortunate position of being able to enjoy special treatment when things go wrong. His passport mishap will have been smoothed out, allowing him to return to Catalonia ahead of Barcelona’s La Liga home game with Valencia on Sunday.

In an earlier report, Softfootball reported that Saudi Pro League side Al-Qadsah have reportedly  reached an agreement with  Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr for the transfer of midfielder Otávio.
