Earlier today, Barcelona announced via its website that Gavi will be sidelined for four to five months after the success of his surgery.

First team player Pablo Páez Gavira ‘Gavi’ has had an arthroscopy to resolve a medial meniscus injury, which was sutured to preserve the meniscus. Recovery time is estimated at around 4-5 months.

However, the news was received by Barcelona manager Hansi Flick in good faith, who believed the Spaniard would be back stronger, as reported by Softfootball.

Meanwhile, Gavi, in his response as reported by Fabrizio Romano via his official X handle, gave his assurance of returning to active duty.

Gavi said:

Those who know me know that I will return whenever necessary to defend Barça and my loved ones until the end. The true hero is not made in moments of success, but in those when he rises after falling… Thank you all for the messages of encouragement

However, Gavi’s absence is one of multiple injuries rocking the Barcelona team this new season. Earlier, Lamine Yamal was sidelined for four weeks, while Alejandro Balde was dropped from the Champions League squad. The latest is Fermin Lopez, who played over the weekend in Barcelona’s 3-0 win over Getafe, has also been ruled out for three weeks over iliopsoas muscle injury in his left leg.

Despite the injury scares, Barcelona will continue their campaigns both in the La Liga and the Champions League. They will be facing Real Oviedo on Thursday and a Sunday clash with Real Sociedad.
