Barcelona have already made their intentions clear to Marcus Rashford and his representatives, informing them of the club’s desire to keep the forward beyond his current loan spell, as shared by Fabrizio Romano on his official X account.
According to reports covered by SoftFootball, the message has been communicated directly, even though no final decision has yet been taken on activating the €30 million buy option included in the deal. The feeling inside the club is very positive, with Barcelona pleased by Rashford’s impact and attitude since his arrival.

Fabrizio Romano posted:
Barcelona already informed Marcus Rashford and his camp about desire to keep him beyond this season. No guarantee yet on €30m buy option to be activated, final decision later + based also on financial situation but Barça very happy with Rashy.
Rashford joined Barça on loan from Manchester United last summer, and his situation initially appeared uncertain following managerial changes back in England. However, that uncertainty has faded.
The Catalan club’s hierarchy and coaching staff are aligned on wanting continuity while accepting that financial conditions will ultimately shape the final call later in the season.
From the player’s side, there is little ambiguity. Rashford has already explained that staying at Barcelona is something he genuinely wants, but not as a comfort move.

He previously stressed his motivation, saying:
Of course what I want is to stay at Barça. It’s an end goal, but it’s not the reason why I’m training hard and giving it my best. The purpose is to win.
That quote reflects how he sees his role, focused on performance first rather than contract security. On the pitch, Rashford’s numbers back up Barcelona’s satisfaction. He has registered seven goals and 11 assists in 26 appearances across competitions, offering pace, movement, and flexibility across the front line.
Hansi Flick has repeatedly praised his rising form, professionalism and work ethic, noting how quickly he adapted to the team’s demands and dressing room culture. Financially, Barcelona remain cautious. While the €30m option exists, there is no guarantee it will be triggered automatically.

Club officials may look to reassess the fee or timing depending on their budget situation, something sporting director Deco has hinted at publicly. Still, the mood is clear. Barça are happy with Rashford and see him as part of the project.
Manchester United, for their part, are open to a sale. As an academy graduate, Rashford would represent pure profit under PSR rules, making a summer deal logical. For now though, all sides appear calm, with Barcelona’s message already delivered and a final decision simply waiting for the right moment.
