The scoreline ultimately flattered the hosts after a surprisingly awkward first half. Oviedo, rooted to the bottom of the table and without a league win in 14 matches, showed no signs of inferiority early on. They enjoyed spells of possession, competed aggressively for loose balls, and forced Barcelona into a disjointed opening period. Barcelona emerged from the interval with renewed urgency and quickly asserted control. Seven minutes into the second half, Dani Olmo broke the deadlock with a crisp low finish into the far corner, finally rewarding the hosts’ pressure.
Oviedo’s resistance soon collapsed. A loose back pass from David Costas was ruthlessly punished by Raphinha, who calmly chipped Escandell to double the lead. The contest was effectively settled moments later when Lamine Yamal produced a moment of magic, acrobatically converting Olmo’s cross with a spectacular scissor kick that brought the stadium to its feet.
