Mikel Arteta has underlined just how crucial Kai Havertz is to his Arsenal side after the German forward made his long-awaited return to action following a lengthy injury layoff.
Softfootball earlier reported that Havertz was set to return early this year after recovering from a long-term injury after postive updates from the gunners, and that prediction proved accurate as the former Chelsea man featured in Arsenal’s emphatic 4-1 win over Portsmouth in the third round of the FA Cup.

According to Fabrizio Romano via his official X handle, the Arsenal manager spoke glowingly about Havertz’s intelligence and movement on the pitch, stressing how much the team has felt his absence in recent weeks. Arteta said:
I was just watching Kai Havertz move and his awareness, the way he needs to move, when he needs to move, in relation to what he moves.
We miss him big time. He’s back with us and now we need to maintain his fitness because he’s a very important player for us.
Havertz was brought on in the 69th minute, replacing Gabriel Jesus, as Arsenal looked to see out the game in comfortable fashion. While he did not get on the scoresheet, his movement, composure, and sharp positioning were clear signs that he is edging closer to full match fitness.

The German international’s return comes at a crucial time for Arteta, who has had to juggle attacking options during a busy period of the season. Havertz’s versatility allows him to operate across the frontline or in advanced midfield roles, giving Arsenal greater tactical flexibility as they continue their push on multiple fronts.
Arteta is expected to manage Havertz carefully in the coming weeks, gradually increasing his minutes to avoid any setbacks. With the Premier League title race and cup competitions entering decisive phases, the Arsenal boss will be hoping his influential forward can quickly regain rhythm and play a key role in the club’s ambitions for the remainder of the campaign.
