Arsenal’s new signing, Viktor Gyokeres broke the internet and social media with his transfer from Sporting CP to the Gunners. Softfootball followed every inch of Viktor’s transfer saga as Arsenal and Sporting were at loggerheads for weeks on how the £10m bonus will be paid.
The Gunners finally grabbed their man after all was sorted and the Swedish striker has already joined in the preseason tour of Asia with the rest of the team.
He was unveiled to Arsenal fans in Singapore and also for the first time met with his new teammates and old friends as Arsenal defeated Newcastle United 3-2 in a preseason game.

Watch as Gyokeres met his new teammates in a video posted by Arsenal media on their official verified X handle.
The Gunners coughed out £64m for the striker who is deemed as one of the best in the world at the moment. Upon arrival at the club, the Swedish star who has scored 15 goals for the Sweden national team since debuting in 2019 explained how he got his goal celebration.
Speaking in his first interview with the Gunners’ media, Gyokeres explained what influenced his now trending goal celebration.
He elucidated:
“Before I got it, my friends were always saying to me to find my own celebration, because they were very tired of me doing all kinds of stuff when I was celebrating.
“I think it was during the World Cup break in 2022, so I had some time off. We went on vacation together, me and my friends. When we were going, we were talking about that and during that time, we just came up with it after a while.
“We thought it looked good, and I started doing it straight away. It felt even better on the pitch.
Gyokeres is a big addition to the Gunners’s squad for next season as he is coming with a goalscoring boot. He scored 97 goals in 102 appearances for Sporting CP. Softfootball understands the Gunners are not done in the transfer market as they are still chasing another winger.
