There could be a repeat of the Eberechi Eze situation as Arsenal have officially entered the race to sign Piero Hincapié this summer.
Softfootball understands that Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur were rumoured to be interested in the player after he told his club, Bayer Leverkusen that he would love to leave the Bundesliga outfit this summer.

According to football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano through his official X handle, saying the Gunners appears to be frontrunners in the race to sign the player.
Fabrizio revealed:
“Arsenal also make official approach to Bayer Leverkusen for Piero Hincapié after player’s decision to leave.
“No official bid yet from #AFC as deal depends on Kiwior exit (Porto on it) and/or Zinchenko future.
“Tottenham sent loan/obligation bid to Bayer for Hincapié.”
Interestingly, Arsenal were also not in the race to sign Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace until Tottenham were about to finalise the deal for the midfielder. The Gunners moved in swiftly and hijacked the deal in less than 48 hours.
The England international was unveiled at the Emirates, just before their first premier league home game of the season and they hammered Leeds United 5-0 with Eze watching from the stands.
However, there’s still hope for Tottenham who went in with a loan bid as Arsenal would need to sell players before bidding for the player. The Gunners are looking to offload Jakub Kiwior with FC Porto , Fabio Vieira, Reiss Nelson, Olesandr Zinchenko and Albert Sambi Lokonga.
So, Spurs can still convince the player to join them this summer. Chelsea are also interested in Hincapié but like Arsenal they need to sell players before making any in addition to their squad.
Arsenal and Chelsea have made a 100% start to the premier league with the wins out of two matches while Chelsea have won one with a draw at home against Crystal Palace on the opening day of the season.
