Arsenal are closing in on the sensational signing of Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace, beating fierce rivals Tottenham Hotspur to the 27-year-old’s signature in a dramatic transfer twist.
Sofftfootball had earlier reported that Spurs had long been in the running for Eze and agreed with crystal palace a fee worth around his expired £68m release clause, but Arsenal moved quickly to hijack the deal, convincing the player with their project under Mikel Arteta.

According to transfer guru David Ornstein via his official X handle, Arsenal have already struck a breakthrough with Palace
he said:
“Arsenal reach agreement in principle with Crystal Palace to sign Eberechi Eze. Deal worth around expired £68m release clause – matching what #THFC were ready to pay. Personal terms close + 27yo plays for #CPFC on Thurs before #AFC medical” @TheAthleticFC.
Softfootball also understands that Eze has also given his green light to the move, with Arsenal finalising personal terms. Ornstein confirmed in a follow up message he said:
“Eberechi Eze agrees personal terms with Arsenal ahead of completing move from Crystal Palace. Deal in principle already struck for 27yo attacking midfielder to join #AFC after #CPFC vs Fredrikstad in #UECL. Player’s part now finalised too” @TheAthleticFC.
Eze is expected to play in Palace’s UECL tie against Fredrikstad before heading for his Arsenal medical. His imminent arrival is a major statement from the Gunners, who have once again shown their ability to outmuscle rivals in the market ,this time at the expense of Spurs.
For Eze, the move represents a deserved step up after lighting up Selhurst Park with his creativity and goals, while for Arsenal, it adds another dynamic attacking option as they push to challenge for major honours this season.
