Arsenal exploring move for Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapié

2 Min Read

Arsenal are considering making a move for Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapié as Mikel Arteta looks to further strenghten his defensive options ahead of the new season.

The Ecuadorian international has been impressive for the former bundesliga champions and is seen as a player who could add both depth and versatility to the Gunners’defensive line.

Softfootball understands that Arsenal’s pursuit of Hincapié is closely tied to potential outgoings, with Jakub Kiwior linked to Porto and Oleksandr Zinchenko also tipped to leave. Until those deals progress, Arsenal are unlikely to submit an official bid.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the situation via his official X handle, stating:

“Piero Hincapié considers Arsenal project as very attractive and he’s keen on the move. Initial talks have started on player side with personal terms not expected to be an issue.

No bid yet as Kiwior-Porto and Zinchenko exits are important part of the domino.”

For Arsenal, the push for Hincapié shows their desire to maintain a strong defensive core and also planning for the future. The 22-year-old’s ability to play both centrally and on the left side of defence makes him an appealing target for Arteta’s project.

Should a deal materialise, it would underline Arsenal’s strategy of blending established names with emerging talents , a balance that has already taken them close to Premier League glory in recent seasons.
