Arsenal beat West Ham in Mikel Arteta’s 300th game in-charge

Mikel Arteta celebrated his 300th game in-charge of Arsenal as they beat West Ham United 2-0 to win the London Derby, Softfootball reports.

Bukayo Saka marked his return to the national team with a goal in the second half after Declan Rice had recorded his first goal of the season.

Arsenal’s official X handle posted after the game celebrating the win on Saturday evening.

Arteta named Rice, Martin Odegaard and Eberechi Eze in midfield. But Captain Odegaard went off with an injury. It’s now the third consecutive Premier League home game that he has been withdrawn in the first half.

Martin Zubimendi played as the number six position and Declan Rice in a more advanced role connecting with Eze and Bukayo Saka.

West Ham defended for their lives as Arsenal dominated the encounter with series of attacks and finally had a breakthrough with a goal from Rice. It was the first for the England international this season.

Arteta’s men sealed the victory in the second half when Jurrien Timber was brought down by El Hadji Malick Diouf and Saka stepped up to slot home the penalty to make it 2-0.

Interestingly, it was Saka’s 200th Premier League appearance and his record now stands at 55 goals and 45 assists. Saka will now go for the international break in good form just like Declan Rice.
