Arsenal agree personal terms with England international

Arsenal have reached a personal agreement with Chelsea winger Noni Madueke as they prepare to make a formal move for the England international, according to The Athletic.

Madueke, 23, is understood to have given the green light to a switch across London, but discussions between the two clubs are yet to begin.

The Gunners, who have maintained a healthy working relationship with Chelsea in the past, are looking to utilise the opportunity with the purchase of Madueke.

The Gunners had recently signed Kepa Arrizabalaga from the Blues after triggering his £5 million release clause. Now, Mikel Arteta’s side is considering Madueke to bolster their right-wing depth, with the player also capable of playing on the left.

Madueke was previously reported as one of Arsenal’s shortlisted options for a versatile forward, alongside Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze and Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers.

Despite facing fitness challenges this past season, including a hamstring injury, Madueke featured 45 times for Chelsea across all competitions, including four appearances at the Club World Cup. He managed 11 goals and five assists, although he was excluded from matchday squads on two occasions by head coach Enzo Maresca for what were described as performance-related and technical reasons.

Madueke joined Chelsea from PSV Eindhoven in January 2023 and has made 91 appearances for the club. His current contract runs until 2030.

Before his time in the Eredivisie, he came through the academies at Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace, moving to the Netherlands in 2018 and later becoming a key figure for PSV.

Internationally, Madueke earned his senior England debut in August 2024 and now has seven caps, following an impressive youth career with the national team.

Softfootball had earlier reported that Arsenal are reportedly set to land Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze this summer, with football pundit Gary Lineker claiming the attacking midfielder is on his way to the Emirates.

The 26-year-old Crystal Palace star has been outstanding for the club, and he is on the radar of top teams this summer. He is undoubtedly one of the best attackers in the league right now, and he deserves to play at the highest level.
