Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has reportedly identified Bayern Munich midfielder Konrad Laimer as a key transfer target as he looks to strengthen his squad, softfootball reports.
Amorim has made a positive start to life at Old Trafford, recording two wins and a draw since replacing Erik ten Hag, while also impressing supporters with his leadership and tactical approach.
According to Sky Germany, via The Metro, the Portuguese coach has urged United’s hierarchy to explore a move for the versatile Austrian international, who is capable of playing in central midfield and at right-back.
Laimer’s adaptability is said to be one of the qualities that has caught Amorim’s attention, with the 27-year-old enjoying solid performances for Bayern over the past two seasons.
Manchester United are reportedly monitoring the player’s situation closely, although completing a deal may prove difficult.
Laimer remains under contract with Bayern Munich until 2027 and is believed to be happy at the Allianz Arena. However, United’s strong relationship with the German champions—following the recent signings of Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui—could aid any future negotiations.
United’s minority owners, INEOS, are also said to be prepared to invest in strengthening the squad as part of their long-term plan to return the club to the top of English and European football.
