Alphonso Davies Returns to Training After Injury Scare in Bayern Win

Alphonso Davies has handed FC Bayern Munich a timely boost after returning to training following his latest injury setback, Softfootball reports.

The left-back was substituted during Bayern’s 3–2 win over Eintracht Frankfurt at the weekend due to a muscle problem, raising fresh concerns after an earlier long-term knee injury had already disrupted his season.

However, Bayern confirmed via their official x handle that Davies was back at Säbener Straße on Thursday, 26 February 2026, completing a light 20-minute running session.

The 25-year-old worked under the supervision of a rehabilitation coach and appeared in positive spirits, suggesting the issue may not be serious.

Initial assessments had indicated a potential three-week absence, but his swift return to individual training has cast some doubt on that timeline.

Despite the encouraging signs, Bayern are expected to manage his recovery carefully, with the season entering a decisive phase across all competitions.

Head coach Vincent Kompany has viable alternatives on the left side of defence, including Hiroki Ito and Raphaël Guerreiro, while Josip Stanišić and Konrad Laimer can also provide cover if required. As a result, there is no immediate pressure to accelerate Davies’ return.

The situation also carries implications at international level. The Canada Soccer are keen to include Davies in their squad for upcoming friendlies against Iceland national football team on 28 March and Tunisia national football team days later.

While the association has confirmed ongoing communication with Bayern’s medical staff, a final decision regarding Davies’ availability has yet to be made.

For now, Bayern’s priority remains a cautious reintegration, ensuring their dynamic full-back is fully fit for the critical stretch of the campaign.

Elsewhere, FC Barcelona have confirmed that Frenkie de Jong faces a spell of between five and six weeks on the sidelines after sustaining a muscular tear in training, adding to their growing list of injury concerns at a crucial stage of the season.
