Newcastle United will be without their talismanic forward, Alexander Isak in their Premier League opener this season against Aston Villa at Villa Park on Saturday as uncertainty continues to loom over the Swedish international’s protracted transfer saga.
The 25-year-old, who has netted 62 goals in all competitions since arriving for a club record fee in 2022, appears to be determined to leave Newcastle in this transfer window.

Eddie Howe feels unable to select the wantaway star despite admitting he wants to, but he remains hopeful that he will remain a Newcastle player. The striker is still out of contention for the Magpies amid strong links with Liverpool.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano via his X handle, he reported that it’s now official that Alexander Isak will not feature for Newcastle this weekend against Aston Villa. Manager Eddie Howe has reiterated that his position on the matter remains unchanged. In his post, he stated:
“Official: Alexander Isak, out of Newcastle squad for this weekend.
Eddie Howe: “Isak situation is the same and I think that will remain the case”.
Isak has consistently insisted that he wants to leave Newcastle this summer and Liverpool being his preferred destination. The Reds remain in the market for further attacking reinforcements despite having already signed Hugo Ekitike earlier this summer. The Swede has been earmarked as their top target after his impressive goalscoring record for the Magpies.
Softfootball reported earlier that the Premier League reigning champions had a bid of 110 million pounds rejected for Alexander Isak, who scored 23 league goals last season as Newcastle finished fifth and qualified for the Champions League.
