Ajax have moved quickly in the January transfer window, reaching a verbal agreement to sign Oleksandr Zinchenko from Arsenal on a short-term deal.
Zinchenko’s move comes after a brief and frustrating spell at Nottingham Forest, where he joined on loan in January. The defender was unable to feature against his parent club Arsenal yesterday, as Forest played out a 0-0 draw with the Gunners. He has now officially returned to Arsenal ahead of completing his switch to Ajax, where he is expected to undergo medical tests in Amsterdam within the next 24 hours.

According to Fabrizio Romano via his official X handle , the Dutch giants have sealed an agreement with all parties involved for the Ukrainian international to join on loan until the end of the season.

The move offers Zinchenko a fresh start and regular football, while Ajax add experience and versatility to their squad for the remainder of the campaign.

Meanwhile, it has been a positive period off the pitch for Arsenal. In other transfer news concerning the Gunners, Softfootball earlier reported that the club has agreed a new five-year contract with Bukayo Saka, effectively ending speculation surrounding the future of the star winger. The England international is reportedly set to earn around £300,000 per week, underlining his importance to Mikel Arteta’s long-term project.
With Zinchenko heading to Amsterdam, Arsenal continue to balance squad management with securing their most valuable assets as the season progresses.
