Former Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor has advised Tottenham Hotspur to part ways with manager Ange Postecoglou at the end of the season and consider Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola as his replacement.
Postecoglou has come under increasing pressure following a series of disappointing results that have left Tottenham struggling for consistency in the Premier League.
Despite showing attacking ambition and earning praise for his football philosophy, the Australian manager has faced criticism as Spurs have struggled to maintain momentum and deliver consistent performances.
Agbonlahor believes Tottenham should consider making a change in the summer, with Iraola emerging as a potential candidate after an impressive campaign with Bournemouth.
The Spanish coach has earned plaudits for the Cherries’ performances, with his side displaying an energetic and dynamic style of football while competing strongly against several top Premier League teams.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Agbonlahor suggested that Iraola could be an ideal option for Tottenham, although he acknowledged that convincing the Bournemouth manager to leave the club could prove difficult. Agbonlahor said:
Top managers now, Iraola, all these managers, like they’ll find you out, and that’s what happens.
Spurs need to probably keep Ange, I would, for now, also because who’s out there to go and get?
And I would go and get, maybe the Bournemouth manager.
But why would he (leave Bournemouth)? That’s the problem.
Agbonlahor’s comments come as Tottenham continue to assess their direction under Postecoglou, with the club facing pressure to improve their results and challenge more consistently for European football.
