Softfootball understands that AC Milan have opened talks via intermediaries over a potential loan deal for Manchester United striker Rasmus Højlund. Early figures on the table point to a €6 million loan fee, a €45 million buy option, and full salary coverage by the Rossoneri.
As of Saturday, August 9, however, there’s still no green light from the player. Højlund has made it clear he wants to stay at Old Trafford and fight for his place, even after being left unused in a recent friendly.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano shed light on the situation on his official X account, posting:
“AC Milan have started discussing via intermediaries numbers of Rasmus Højlund deal.
Understand these are details: €6m loan fee, €45m buy option clause, salary covered.
No green light to exit from the player yet, as Højlund insists on staying even after 0 minutes today.”

The proposed arrangement would see Milan pay the €6m loan fee and take on Højlund’s full wages. While most sources agree on a €45m buy option, others believe the figure could be closer to €28-30m.
United are said to be open to the move, especially with new striker Benjamin Šeško joining the squad and competition for minutes intensifying. However, the club is not forcing Højlund out and his personal approval is still the deciding factor.
Milan, for their part, have money to work with after reportedly receiving €42m from Newcastle for Malick Thiaw. The Danish forward remains on their radar, but until he’s convinced, the deal will remain stalled.
