AC Milan are in advanced talks with Manchester United over a deal to bring Rasmus Højlund back to Serie A on a season-long loan.
Softfootball understands negotiations between the two clubs have progressed in recent days, with Milan proposing a €6 million loan fee and a €45 million buy option. This was after the striker had initially rejected the offer, willing to fight for a space at Old Trafford despite the arrival of Benjamin Sesko.

But recent updates saw that the Rossoneri are prepared to cover the full salary of the Danish international for the duration of the agreement, with ongoing discussions with the player’s camp.
Fabrizio Romano wrote on his X handle about the recent development regarding the Manchester United striker.
He said:
“AC Milan keep advancing on Rasmus Højlund deal with Man United.
“Talks ongoing on player side to discuss the project as Højlund is opening doors to AC Milan.
“€6m loan fee, €45m buy option clause and salary covered — details revealed last week, agreement closer.”
Højlund, 22, joined United from Atalanta for £72 million in 2023, scoring 26 goals in 95 appearances. While he showed glimpses of his potential at Old Trafford, injuries and adaptation challenges meant his debut season was inconsistent.
Talks with the player’s camp are ongoing, with optimism from both sides that a deal will be finalised in the coming days. United are also confident that an agreement can be reached.
