Ademola Lookman has shared his first words after sealing a move to Atlético Madrid, describing the Spanish giants as a “very special club” and praising the passion of the supporters as he begins a new chapter in La Liga, Softfootball reports.
The Nigerian forward completed a €40m transfer from Atalanta at the end of the winter window, bringing an end to one of the most talked-about transfer sagas of the market. Lookman had been close to joining Fenerbahçe, but Atlético Madrid made a late decisive move to win the race after a long battle between both clubs.

According to Fabrizio Romano via his official X handle, Lookman expressed his excitement about the move and the atmosphere surrounding the club, Romano posted:
Ademola Lookman on joining Atléti: It’s a very special club. I am very aware of the Atlético Madrid fans and the passion that they bring to the club, the players, and the team.
The 28-year-old arrives in Spain at a crucial stage of his career, widely regarded as entering his prime years. Lookman was outstanding for the Super Eagles of Nigeria at the recently concluded AFCON, playing a key role in the team’s impressive run and earning a place in the Team of the Tournament alongside two other Nigerian stars.
Atlético Madrid will now be hoping the former African Player of the Year can carry that red-hot international form into club football as Diego Simeone’s side push for silverware and fight to secure a top-four finish in La Liga.
