Softfootball can now confirm that Real Madrid have reached an agreement in principle with UEFA and the European Football Clubs Association (EFC), bringing an end to all legal disputes linked to the failed European Super League project.
The development was confirmed via the official X handle of transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
he stated:
OFFICIAL: Real Madrid confirm agreement with UEFA as it’s OVER for the Super League. “UEFA, the European Football Clubs (EFC), and Real Madrid C. F. reach an agreement for the good of European club football. After months of discussions held in the interest of European football, UEFA, the European Football Clubs (EFC), and Real Madrid C. F. announce that they have reached an agreement in principle for the good of European club football, respecting the principle of sporting merit and emphasizing the long-term sustainability of clubs and the improvement of the fan experience through the use of technology. This agreement in principle will also serve to resolve their legal disputes related to the European Super League, once a final agreement is implemented.“
The agreement prioritises sporting merit, long-term club sustainability and improved fan experience through technology, aligning with UEFA’s expanded Champions League format.

With Barcelona’s withdrawal last week, Real Madrid were the final remaining club associated with the breakaway project. The controversial closed league, first launched in chaotic fashion in 2021, is now officially considered over, allowing full focus to return to on-field competition. UEFA, the EFC and Real Madrid confirmed the agreement would resolve all Super League-related legal disputes once fully implemented.
In other news, Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the dismissal of head coach Thomas Frank with immediate effect. Despite publicly expressing confidence in his position, the club has opted for a change following a mixed run of results.
