Cole Palmer delivered his loudest response yet on the pitch as Chelsea cruised to a 3-1 Premier League win over Wolves today. The 23-year-old midfielder struck a superb hat-trick at Molineux to end a brief three-game goal drought and remind everyone of his importance to Chelsea’s resurgence.

SoftFootball highlighted the scale of the performance, noting how Palmer once again became the decisive figure in a result that strengthened Chelsea’s push up the table. His goals included two confidently taken penalties and a composed finish from a Marc Cucurella cross, wrapped up in a ruthless spell.

Beyond the goals, attention quickly turned to Palmer’s celebration and post-match comments. After scoring, he combined his familiar ice-cold gesture with covering his ears, a move widely seen as a message to outside criticism and transfer speculation.

Palmer was asked directly about the meaning behind it. Rather than sounding defensive, he appeared relaxed and grounded, making it clear he is not distracted by online chatter or rumours about his future.

Cole Palmer: “Everyone loves to chat rubbish, don’t they? I don’t pay too much attention to it.

You see things. But I feel like I’ve come from a strong place anyway so I don’t pay attention to it.

The tone suggested a player comfortable with pressure and secure in his role at Chelsea. The England international also used the moment to speak honestly about his physical condition.

Despite the hat-trick, he admitted he is still managing fitness issues that have lingered throughout the season. He acknowledged that injuries have limited him at times.

He said:

I don’t think I’m 100 per cent fit just yet. Being injured the whole season is not ideal… but hopefully I can get over it soon by managing it.

He added confidently:

I know what level I can provide when I feel 100 per cent fit.

Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior echoed that belief, praising Palmer’s resilience and influence. With historic records already falling and his composure under scrutiny standing firm, Palmer’s message was clear. The noise can wait. His football is doing the talking.
