Tottenham Hotspur boss Thomas Frank struck a defiant but proud tone after Spurs’ 2–0 defeat to Manchester United on February 7, 2026.
In a video shared on Tottenham’s official X account, Frank praised his team’s start, saying they were “competing well” in the opening 30 minutes before the game turned on a red card for Cristian Romero.

Reduced to ten men for over an hour, Spurs struggled to contain United’s quality, but Frank applauded the “incredible resilience” his players showed to keep fighting until the final whistle. He also gave credit to the travelling supporters, calling their backing “massive” on a tough afternoon.
There was a bright moment to take away, too. Nineteen-year-old Brazilian Souza made his debut off the bench, and Frank labelled it a “big positive.” The Spurs boss highlighted how big a step it is for a young player to go from Brazil to such a high-pressure stage and felt the youngster handled the moment well.
Away from the pitch, Frank has been dealing with plenty of noise. Despite Romero’s costly dismissal and talk of internal fines over discipline, the manager has publicly backed his vice captain, stressing how important he is as Spurs try to move away from the bottom half of the table. With the relegation fight looming, Frank is keen to keep unity in the squad.
He also refused to be drawn into transfer talk when asked about links to Andy Robertson. Frank brushed off the rumours, insisting his focus is on “patching up” the current group and getting them ready for the busy midweek schedule ahead.
According to Softfootball, Spurs remain under pressure, but Frank’s message is clear: stay together, fight through setbacks, and take the positives even on difficult days.
