The midfielder’s journey back to first-team involvement has not been straightforward. Moorhouse only returned to competitive action in November 2025 after spending 431 days sidelined through injury.
He quickly reminded coaches of his potential by scoring twice in a 5-1 Under 21 victory over Southampton in December. That performance strengthened his reputation and eventually earned him involvement in senior matchday squads, including Europa League fixtures against Lyon.
United’s current midfield situation may accelerate his chances. Injuries have ruled Mason Mount and Matthijs de Ligt out of recent sessions, leaving Carrick exploring alternative solutions. Moorhouse’s experience with the Republic of Ireland Under 21 side also adds maturity to his development.
