Softfootball understands that Dayot Upamecano has finally put an end to months of speculation by committing his future to Bayern Munich, agreeing to a new long-term contract that will keep him at the Allianz Arena until 2030.
The French centre-back is expected to formally sign the deal soon, delivering a timely boost for Bayern after a tense negotiation process. The breakthrough was confirmed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano via his official X account.

He posted:
EXCLUSIVE: Dayot Upamecano approves new deal at Bayern, clubs interested are informed! He’s set to sign new contract soon at FC Bayern, happy to stay as huge boost for the club after big efforts from club and player side to make it happen. It will be valid until 2030.
Following recent reports of ongoing contract discussions between Upamecano and Bayern, after the defender was linked with a possible move to Real Madrid, the Frenchman has now made it clear he is fully committed to remaining in Munich.
Financially, the deal underlines Bayern’s commitment to the defender. Upamecano will become one of the club’s top earners, with reports suggesting a salary of around €20 million gross per year. A €20 million signing bonus is also included, a key issue that nearly derailed negotiations.

Bayern initially wanted the bonus spread across the contract but eventually agreed to pay it as a lump sum after firm pressure from the player’s agent.
There is also a €65 million release clause written into the contract, believed to become active from 2027. That clause offers Upamecano some future flexibility while still giving Bayern security in the short to medium term. It’s a compromise that suits both sides, even if it took time to reach.

That decision ends a quiet power struggle between the club and the player’s camp, with Uli Hoeneß previously voicing concerns over the agent’s role. Still, calm heads prevailed. Under Vincent Kompany, Upamecano has matured into a defensive leader, and Bayern fans can now breathe easy, for now at least.
