Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior has thrown his full support behind Romeo Lavia, insisting the midfielder still has a huge future at Stamford Bridge despite his ongoing injury struggles, Softfootball reports.

Speaking ahead of Chelsea’s crucial UEFA Champions League clash against Napoli tomorrow, Rosenior stressed the importance of managing the young midfielder carefully while backing his long-term potential.

According to Fabrizio Romano via his offical X handle, the Chelsea head coach Rosenior said:

He is outstanding with the potential to be a world class midfielder. He has to clear a few more hurdles to fully train but I was happy to see him in training, we need to manage Romeo.

The Chelsea boss’ comments come at a pivotal moment for the club, with the Blues needing a win against Napoli if they are to keep their hopes of finishing inside the Champions League top eight alive.

Lavia’s Chelsea career has so far been disrupted by fitness issues. Since completing his move from Southampton, the Belgian midfielder has struggled to enjoy a sustained run of games. He has been sidelined since Chelsea’s 2-2 draw against Qarabag in the Champions League last November, a setback that halted what many hoped would be a breakthrough spell for the highly rated youngster.

Despite the setbacks, Rosenior’s comments signal that the club remain fully committed to Lavia’s development, viewing him as a key part of Chelsea’s future rather than a short-term solution.

With the Napoli showdown looming and Chelsea’s European ambitions on the line, all eyes will be on whether Lavia can edge closer to a return — and how carefully the Blues manage one of their most promising midfield talents.
