Nigeria’s Super Eagles players have continued their impressive form at club level following the dramatic conclusion of AFCON 2025, with several stars delivering standout performances immediately after returning from international duty.

Softfootball have gathered that three Super Eagles players were on target in their first matches back with their clubs, underlining Nigeria’s strong individual quality despite the tournament’s controversial ending.

Oshimen, who was named in the AFCON 2025 Team of the Tournament, carried his red-hot form into the Turkish Süper Lig. The Galatasaray striker scored one goal and recorded two shots in their 3–1 victory over Fatih Karagümrük S.K., once again proving his consistency in front of goal.

Chukwueze returned to club football under scrutiny after his penalty miss against Morocco in the AFCON semi-finals. Nigerian fans had criticised his reaction after the miss, accusing him of being unserious. However, the winger responded on the pitch for Fulham, registering one goal from one shot and recording 60% pass accuracy in their Premier League clash against Brighton.

Standing at an imposing 2.01 metres (6 ft 7 in), Onuachu remains the tallest striker in the Super Eagles AFCON 2025 squad. The Trabzonspor forward made an immediate impact on his return, scoring one goal from one shot and completing 71% of his passes in their match against Kasımpaşa S.K.

AFCON 2025 ended amid controversy and chaos, as Senegal briefly refused to continue play following a late penalty awarded to Morocco in the final. After the intervention of Sadio Mané, Senegal returned to the pitch. Morocco’s Brahim Díaz later missed the penalty while attempting a Panenka.

Senegal eventually lifted the trophy with a 1–0 victory, courtesy of Pape Gueye’s goal in the 94th minute of extra time, closing a dramatic tournament but allowing club football to quickly reclaim the spotlight for Africa’s stars.
