Paris Saint-Germain have officially completed the signing of Barcelona midfielder Dro Fernández, with the transfer now sealed after successful final talks between the two clubs. The 18-year-old, full name Pedro Fernández Sarmiento, is set to continue his development in Paris after PSG agreed to pay a fee slightly higher than his €6 million release clause.

The move, shared by Fabrizio Romano on his official X account, follows weeks of interest, first reported when PSG began actively pursuing the teenager as a strategic addition for the future, a situation previously detailed by SoftFootball.

Rather than triggering the clause directly, PSG chose to negotiate with Barcelona and settle on a fee just over €8 million. That decision was aimed at preserving a healthy relationship between the clubs, especially at a time when Barcelona are rebuilding their institutional standing in Europe.

An agreement with the player had already been in place since last week, as earlier outlined when Dro Fernández was expected to leave Camp Nou once his clause became a real option.

The player’s decision to leave Barcelona came after careful consideration of his pathway. Despite making five senior appearances this season, Dro struggled to secure consistent first-team minutes.

Submitting a transfer request in January, he made it clear he wanted a clearer development plan and regular competitive football, something PSG believe they can offer in a structured environment.

PSG head coach Luis Enrique was central to the deal. The former Barcelona manager spoke directly with Dro, outlining how the club intends to nurture him without rushing expectations.

Club president Nasser Al Khelaifi was also involved, reinforcing PSG’s commitment to investing in elite young talent rather than short-term solutions. From a sporting perspective, Dro is viewed as a long-term project rather than an immediate starter.

The attacking midfielder is highly regarded for his technique, vision and tactical intelligence, all traits developed at La Masia. PSG see him as a player who can grow steadily within their system, potentially featuring with the reserves before stepping up to senior duties.

With all documents now signed, the deal is complete. Dro is expected to undergo his medical shortly before being officially presented as a PSG player, marking a new chapter in his young career and another statement of intent from the Parisian club.
