Ex-Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kanté close to agreeing personal terms with Fenerbahçe

Former Chelsea midfielder, N’Golo Kanté is close to agreeing personal terms with Fenerbahçe in his bid to return to Europe ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Softfootball reports.

Kante’s former club, Chelsea recently employed Liam Rosenior long-term contract after the sacking of Enzo Maresca, who won them a Europa Conference League last season and the FIFA Club World Cup at the summer.

According to football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano via his official X handle, Kante is eager to make the deal happen as he has already decided on his next career path. He wrote:

The agreement between N’Golo Kanté and Fenerbahçe on personal terms, very close following positive meeting on Tuesday. Negotiations to continue with Al Ittihad as timing not guaranteed yet, no plans for free exit as Al Ittihad ask for a fee.

N’Golo Kanté, who featured in Al Ittihad’s 2-1 win over Al Nassr in the King’s Cup has enjoyed a fine career in the Saudi Arabia pro league but believes Fenerbahçe offers him a better opportunity to prepare well for the World Cup in the North American countries of the United States, Mexico and Canada.

France are one of the favourites for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and Kante will love to win his second Mundial after winning runners-up in the last one on penalties to a Lionel Messi inspired Argentina.
