Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano became entangled in a rare social media banter on Christmas Day after replying to a comment under one of his posts. Softfootball had earlier reported in detail an update made by Fabrizio Romano on his official X handle about Etta Eyong.

It was stated that the 22-year-old striker was being monitored by Barcelona and several Premier League clubs and this particular post was also in line with Romano’s normal transfer news reports.
His post had arrived at a time when Etta Eyong was receiving the spotlight after his performance in the Cameroon Vs Gabon AFCON match where he scored the first and only goal of the match very early in the game with an assist from Bryan Mbeumo.
However, @tomvinall00 responded with a trolling comment that said;
Have you not got a family to talk to https://t.co/BFx67OT7An

This immediately prompted an unexpected but direct reply from Romano which said,
you literally posted more than me in the last 24h mate… don’t worry about my family, think about yourself and then comment about others.
His reply blew up instantly on X, drawing the attention of many users who began contributing with memes, humour and support.
@Cenitor141025 joked,
You probably cooked him for Christmas 🤣🤣🤣 pic.twitter.com/N5UULrf7Dh

Another user @PhilasandJiyane wrote in anticipation of a showdown,
Fabrizio seems fed up and is firing back, it’s hilarious. Let’s see how the other guy responds.
Some of the fans like @ShocksFIFA defended Romano saying,
Don’t worry fab he must have something going on in his life even say something like that to someone. Wish you well mate and no more tents outside cobham please it gets us fined because club thinks it’s autograph signing
@think_sense_now reacted to how strong Fabrizio Romano’s clapback was,
Fabrizio went nuclear but I don’t think that guy wanted to poke you – but he is truly roasted now
@Seanlatz seemed to show some care about Fabrizio’s wellbeing,
Hi Fab, we absolutely love you, we just wish you’d take a day off sometimes. Especially Christmas Day. Anyway if you don’t post a link to at least one player during a transfer, then we’d call an emergency on you. Keep doing you.
Another user, @ezeon7 acknowledged how rarely the moment was for the transfer expert.
Yooo, Y’all don’t realize that this is FabrizioRomano first time of replying a post in a decade
The fact that this exchange happened on Christmas day and quickly became a talking point online puts on spotlight the rare, human side of the well-known journalist.
This also reminds fans that even those who report the game every day are not immune to online criticism or emotion.
