Brahim Diaz was not part of the Real Madrid squad that beat Sevilla 2-0 this weekend as he was with the national team for arguably Africa’s biggest football tournament with teams like Nigeria, Senegal, Egypt and Mali competing for the title with Morocco hoping to win it on home soil.
Comoros frustrated their the host until 10 minutes into the second half when Diaz was left unmarked and he received the ball from Noussair Mazraoui’s and fired an unstoppable ball into the net for 1-0.

The 60,180 in attendance at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium cheered in great joy. Comoros pushed for the equaliser as forward Rafiki Said was denied by the legs of Yassine Bounou and Mazraoui saw a fine effort palmed away by Comoros’ Pandor.
However, Ayoub El Kaabi scored a sensational overhead kick to make it 2-0 and hand Walid Regragui’s side an opening day win.
