Softfootball understands that Sevilla are back at Estadio Ramón on Sunday afternoon, and honestly, they could do with a win. It’s been over a month since they last managed one in La Liga, and the table isn’t exactly forgiving.
The hosts sit 13th with 17 points from 15 matches, which feels about right for how their season has gone. Real Oviedo arrive down in 19th, on just 10 points, and already looking like survival will be a long road.

Sevilla’s numbers don’t really hide much. With five wins, two draws, and eight defeats, it’s been stop-start all season. They drew 1-1 with Valencia last time out in the league, a game they probably should’ve won, and followed that with a 2-1 Copa del Rey victory over Extremadura.
Last season’s 17th-place finish was already a warning sign, and this campaign hasn’t really shown much improvement. Sevilla doesn’t look like a European side right now, not even close.
Real Oviedo posted a video of their players arriving in Sevilla ahead of the game via their official X account.

Oviedo won the last clash back in April 2000, and they haven’t lost to Sevilla since 1997, which sounds impressive. The reality now is a bit different.
Life back in La Liga has been hard for the promoted side. Two wins from 15 matches tell their own story, and goals have been a real problem. Seven goals all season is the lowest tally in the league, and it shows when you watch them.

A goalless draw with Mallorca last time out at least stopped the bleeding, but their previous away match ended in a 2-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid. This is Oviedo’s first top-flight season since 2000-01, and survival alone would feel like a success.
Team News
Sevilla’s injury list is long, almost ridiculous. Cesar Azpilicueta, Tanguy Nianzou, Ruben Vargas, Gabriel Suazo, Orjan Nyland, Juanlu Sanchez and Adnan Januzaj are all out, while Isaac Romero and Peque Fernandez are suspended.
On top of that, Kike Salas, Ramon Martinez, and Marcao all need late fitness checks. There’s a real chance that Sevilla go into this missing close to half their first-team squad.

Akor Adams should lead the line again, with Alexis Sanchez expected to start just behind him.
Real Oviedo is missing Alvaro Lemos through injury, and Brandon Domingues will be assessed closer to kickoff. Santi Cazorla and Federico Viñas are both suspended, which doesn’t help a team already short on goals.
Salomón Rondón is set to start up front once more, the 36-year-old still carrying most of the attacking load. Leander Dendoncker should anchor the midfield.
Possible Lineups
Sevilla:
Vlachodimos; Cardoso, Gudelj, Castrin; Carmona, Agoume, Mendy, Oso; Sow; Adams, Sanchez
Real Oviedo:
Escandell; Vidal, Carmo, Costas, Alhassane; Colombatto, Dendoncker; Hassan, Reina, Chaira; Rondon
Softfootball’s Prediction
With this many players missing. Both teams will see chances, mostly because of mistakes. A draw feels possible, but Sevilla at home usually finds a way, even when things aren’t smooth.
Prediction: Sevilla 3-2 Real Oviedo
