Heung-Min Son Set for Emotional Tottenham Return to Say Goodbye

Heung-Min Son will make his first trip back to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium since leaving the club, choosing the Champions League match against SK Slavia Praha as the moment to finally say goodbye to Spurs supporters.

This was confirmed by the club via their official X account.

They posted:

Sonny’s coming home
Heung-Min Son will return to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the first time since leaving the Club to bid farewell to our home fans at our UEFA Champions League fixture with SK Slavia Praha on Tuesday 9th December.

It is a return that already feels a bit emotional for many, considering he left after guiding Tottenham to Europa League glory in Bilbao earlier in May.

Son announced his decision to leave during Spurs’ summer tour in South Korea, something that caught quite a few people by surprise.

Softfootball understands that his last appearance for the club came in front of a packed Seoul World Cup Stadium. Shortly after that, Softfootball reported he made his move over to Los Angeles FC in MLS.

Now, he has picked the Slavia Praha fixture as his chance to return to London and give the proper farewell he didn’t really get before.

He will have a moment to speak directly to the Spurs fans, the same people who welcomed him from Bayer Leverkusen back in 2015 and kept supporting him through everything for the next ten years.

Sonny made 454 appearances and scored 173 goals for Tottenham, which puts him fifth on the club’s all-time scoring list.

He also produced some unforgettable moments, including winning the 2020 FIFA Puskás Award for that incredible solo run against Burnley. In the 2021–22 season, he won the Premier League Golden Boot with 23 goals.

He became the highest-scoring Asian player in Premier League history and was named Best Footballer in Asia nine different times. His biggest moment in a Spurs shirt came in 2025 when he captained Tottenham to the Europa League title, sealing his place in the club’s history forever.
