Xabi Alonso has revealed why Kylian Mbappé is so important to Real Madrid ahead of their weekend game against Girona, Softfootball reports.
The France international was at his best element in midweek as he helped Real Madrid to a 4-3 victory over Olympiacos during the UEFA Champions League Match-Day 5 by scoring all four goals which makes him topscorer in the competition with nine strikes, three above second placed Victor Osimhen.
In an interview shared by football expert, Fabrizio Romano on his official X handle. Alonso said:
Aside from the goals, I love so many things Mbappé does for us. His personality, his influence on the players, the little things he does. He’s very, very important to us.
At just 26, Mbappé has surpassed the 400 goals mark for club and country and already chasing down goals records from Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, arguably the best players in the history of the modern game.
Mbappé is already a World Cup winner with France and was only denied a second by the exceptional brilliance of Messi at the 2022 tournament in Qatar. However, he is not slowing down as he has since been named Captain of the national team and currently one of the most feared forwards in world football.
Mbappé and teammates at Real Madrid will be hoping to get a win against Girona on Sunday as they are currently only a point above second placed Barcelona after 13 matches in LaLiga so far this season.
