Chelsea striker, Liam Delap has revealed that the players executed Enzo Maresca’s game plan against Barcelona perfectly in the Match-day 5 of the UEFA Champions League, Softfootball reports.

The former Ipswich striker scored his first career goal in the competition as Chelsea beat Barcelona 3-0 in a pulsating encounter at Stamford on Tuesday night.

Speaking after the match in an interview shared via Chelsea’s official X handle. Delap reveals:

It was incredible. You grow up dreaming of nights like this, so it’s a very special moment for me. We had a game plan, and everyone executed it really well. I thought it was a great performance and a great night for everyone involved. I believe we’re building something really good here. We’re working together every day, and we’re getting better and better. We come into every game with huge belief. We showed that we can do it against anyone

Marc Cucurella, who was hailed by fans after the match was one of the standout players in the game as he marked out Lamine Yamal and his cross forced France defender, Jules Kounde to score an own goal.

Before half-time, Barcelona Captain Ronald Araujo got sent off for a second yellow card. That enabled the home side dominate the match with Brazilian winger, Willian Estevao scoring a beautiful solo goal to give Chelsea a 2-0 advantage before substitute Liam Delap made it 3-0 and ended an 11-game drought with his first goal of the season.

Chelsea will return to premier league action in a London derby against Arsenal on Sunday at Stamford Bridge.
