Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has finally addressed the swirling rumours about a possible move to the Saudi Pro League, making it clear that he’s going nowhere. Speaking ahead of Portugal’s World Cup qualifier against the Republic of Ireland on October 11, 2025, the midfielder said the idea of leaving United is an impossible scenario to imagine.
His comments came after his landmark performance in United’s 2-1 victory over Chelsea at Old Trafford, where he netted his 100th goal for the club. Fernandes said confidently, shutting down speculation that had linked him with a lucrative switch to the Middle East:
That’s an impossible scenario to imagine, because it’s nothing that’s been discussed with me anymore.

The Portuguese star, who remains under contract at United until 2027 with an option for another year, reiterated his happiness at the club. He explained:
I’m happy here. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have stayed… I like to enjoy the moment.
Despite big-money offers from Al-Hilal and Al-Ittihad, reportedly worth over £600,000 a week, Fernandes decided to stay put. He insisted his decision was not influenced by the upcoming World Cup but simply by his desire to compete at the top level. He said:
I didn’t close the door to Saudi because of the World Cup, that was never on my mind. I just wanted to stay, and the club wanted me to stay. That’s all.

Fernandes has shown time and again that he values commitment and accountability, even during tough moments like his penalty miss against Fulham. As Manchester United continue to rebuild under INEOS leadership, with new contract talks for Harry Maguire, Fernandes remains the club’s heartbeat and one of its most influential leaders.
