Ghana Crush Central African Republic 5–0 to Close in on 2026 World Cup Qualification

Ghana’s push for a place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup is gathering serious momentum after a ruthless 5–0 thrashing of the Central African Republic on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at the Stade d’Honneur in Meknès, Morocco. The Black Stars looked confident and in control from the first minute, moving the ball around like a side that meant business. That same sharpness we saw when Mohammed Kudus fired Spurs past Leeds was on full display again.

The opener came early, and it came in style. Mohammed Salisu rose above everyone to head in a perfectly placed corner from Mohammed Kudus. From then on, Ghana never looked troubled. Their midfield controlled possession, and their forwards pressed with intent. Jordan Ayew and Antoine Semenyo caused endless problems for Central African Republic’s defense with the latter continuing his fine form after scoring twice in Bournemouth’s 3–1 win over Fulham.

When the second half kicked off, it was all one-way traffic. Thomas Partey struck home from just outside the box to make it 2–0. Minutes later, Alexander Djiku nodded in another from a Jordan Ayew corner. Ayew got his own reward soon after with a clean volley, before substitute Kamaldeen Sulemana sealed what happened to be his first ever international goal late on, finishing a low cross from Joseph Paintsil.

Ghana posted a 33-second video on their official X account which captures Sulemana’s emotional post-goal interview amid hugs from teammates Mohammed Kudus and Abdul Fatawu, where he expresses relief after a multi-year wait since his 2022 debut.

Ghana were rock solid defensively too. Salisu and Djiku stood firm, cutting out every loose ball, while Benjamin Asare had a quiet evening in goal. The win keeps Ghana top of Group I with 22 points, three ahead of Madagascar, and now a single draw from booking their spot in the World Cup.

It was a complete performance showing power, composure, and teamwork. Otto Addo’s men seem to be finding that perfect rhythm right when it matters most.
