England and Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham has been voted the Three Lions’ best player of the year for the 2024/2025 football season, Softfootball reports.
Bellingham came first ahead of Declan Rice and Harry Kane, who all finished second and third, respectively, to win the award that was previously won by Chelsea player Cole Palmer last year.
Bellingham’s award is a testament to his heroic performances for England during the Euros, where he helped them to reach the final, whereby they lost to Spain. However, Bellingham scored twice and created an assist during his Euro campaign. The England has been missing international games for England due to injury, having been absent in Thomas Tunchel’s side World Cup qualfying game that ended in a 5-0 heavy win over Andorra last Septemer.
Softfootball was able to gather this news via England’s official X handle, where the Three Lions celebrated the Madrid star for winning the award. The national team wrote this:
Having been sidelined for over three months as a result of a shoulder injury incurred during the club World Cup in the USA and successfully undergo surgery, Bellingham has missed the last international break for England.
Meanwhile, this award is tending to inspire Bellingham, who just resumed full playing recently this season.
The England midfielder has recorded some minutes this season under Coach Xabi Alonso, with his last game being for 10 minutes during Real Madrid’s 5-0 win against Kairat in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night.
Bellingham has played 43 times for England since he made his debut in 2020, having scored six times.
