Serbia vs England preview: Three Lions chase World Cup ticket in Belgrade

England will look to maintain their 100% record in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers when they travel to Belgrade to face Serbia, Softfootball report.

The Three Lions have won all four matches so far with their last match a 2-0 win over Andorra and are currently top of Group K on 12 points, five points ahead of second-placed Serbia but the hosts have a game in hand.

Speaking to the England official media, England Coach Thomas Tuchel says his side is ready for the encounter. He said:

You always have to prepare for everything. We prepare for the best version of Serbia.

First of all, we’re in a very supportive country and a very emotional country. They have amazing talents over the years in football and we will face individual quality, we will face emotions.

We have our first away game together in a very emotional and traditional stadium, so I think the occasion, the opponent and the consolation will bring out the very best in us tomorrow and I’m looking forward to it.

Serbia are a formidable side and have not lost any matches so far in their 2026 World Cup qualification campaign after drawing against Albania and emerging victorious against Andorra and Latvia.

They have not conceded a goal in their last three matches and have scored four goals with seven points taking them to second on the log with five points behind leaders England. So a win against England tomorrow takes Serbia to 10 points and two behind the Three Lions.

However, Serbia Coach, Dragan Stojkovic will be hoping to claim at least a playoff spot, knowing that England are overwhelming favourite to win the group.

Previously, Serbia have qualified for three out of the last four World Cups but have not performed well as they’ve been eliminated in the group stages in 2010, 2018 and 2022, while they also failed to progress past the group stage at the Euro 2024.

Jude Bellingham is not available for this encounter but the Eagles will be familiar with the Real Madrid midfielder as he scored the only goal the last time England faced Serbia at Euro 2024.

Serbia possible XI:

Petrovic; Milenkovic, Erakovic, Pavlovic; Zivkovic, Gudelj, Maksimovic, Samardzic, Terzic; Mitrovic, Vlahovic

England possible XI:

Pickford; James, Guehi, Konsa, Lewis-Skelly; Anderson, Rice; Madueke, Rogers, Gordon; Kane

Prediction

It will be a tough match but England can win this encounter by a slim margin. Serbia 0-1 England
