Softfootball understands that AS Monaco shut the door on a last-minute bid from AC Milan for Thilo Kehrer during the final hours of the summer transfer window, confirming the German defender will remain part of their squad for the 2025/26 campaign.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed via his official X account that Milan identified Kehrer as a priority target after selling Malick Thiaw to Newcastle. However, Monaco made it clear the German international, capped 28 times, was not available for sale, having become an integral part of the side since joining permanently from West Ham in May 2024.

Romano tweeted:

AS Monaco rejected an approach from AC Milan for Thilo Kehrer in the final days of the window. No chance to let him leave despite links with Axel Disasi, impossible to get on a loan move due to Chelsea limited loan spots.

The Ligue 1 side also explored the possibility of bringing former defender Axel Disasi back on loan from Chelsea, but those talks broke down. Chelsea had already used their maximum number of international loan slots when Nicolas Jackson sealed a move to Bayern Munich, leaving no room to sanction another outgoing deal abroad.

Despite interest from Bournemouth and Wolves, Disasi’s desire to return to Monaco could not materialise. As a result, Kehrer stays put and was even included in Monaco’s Champions League squad list led by the club’s poster boy, Paul Pogba, with Monaco prioritising stability at the back as they prepare for a demanding domestic and European campaign.
