Bayern Munich director of sport, Max Eberl has now spoken out on what has become a very dramatic and messy situation involving Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson and the Bundesliga champions.

Softfootball reported on Saturday that Jackson had been set to join the German club on loan and was given permission to fly out to Germany but Chelsea intervened to cancel the move after Liam Delap suffered an injury during the Blues win against Fulham.

Bayern had been set to pay  £13million loan fee as part of a move for Jackson with the deal having also included an option to buy for £56million plus a sell-on clause. However, Chelsea now expect Jackson to fly back to England from Munich.

Apparently Jackson is fuming about Chelsea telling him to come back and he has no intentions of returning and is still in Germany trying to complete the move to Bayern.

Now, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano via his X handle, Bayern director of sport Max Eberl said that he will tell Jackson and his agent to return to London because the Senegalese international is still a Chelsea player. The post reads:

“Bayern director Max Eberl on Nico Jackson: “I’m not in a position to act. We will tell the player and his agent that they have to go back to London, he’s Chelsea player”.

“For final 48h, we’ll try to find a solution”, told BILD.”

Jackson was pushed further down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge this summer after the arrivals of Delap and Joao Pedro. Since joining Chelsea from Villarreal in 2023, he has made 81 appearances for the club and scored 30 goals, and 12 assists.

Jackson previously told Chelsea that he wanted to explore his options, as revealed by Softfootball. That saw him left out of their pre-season friendlies and also their opening fixtures in the Premier League.

Bayern Munich had identified Jackson as a potential reinforcement to support Harry Kane in attack. Though the striker remains under contract at Chelsea until 2033, and it now remains to be seen how both the club and player will handle this messy situation in the next 48 hours before the closure of Summer transfer window.
