Alvaro Morata Seals Loan Move to Como from AC Milan

Alvaro Morata is on the move again and this time, it’s to Como. The Spanish striker has officially joined the Serie A side from AC Milan on a season-long loan, which includes an obligation to buy for €10 million if certain conditions are met.

Softfootball understands that the deal only came together after Milan and Galatasaray agreed to cut short Morata’s stay in Turkey. Milan reportedly paid a €5 million fee to terminate the loan early, allowing the 32-year-old to head for his next adventure.

Morata’s brief time at Galatasaray was far from uneventful. Arriving in February 2025, he featured in 16 matches, scoring seven goals and assisting three more. His contributions helped the club lift both the Turkish Super Lig and the Turkish Cup. But things soured behind the scenes.

Morata later admitted that commitments were not honoured and revealed he gave up part of his salary and contractual rights just to secure his exit.

Now, he’ll be linking up with an old friend and former Chelsea teammate, Cesc Fabregas, who is steering the ship at Como. It’s Morata’s third Serie A club, following spells with Juventus and Milan, and remarkably, his fourth team in less than 12 months.

Sports transfer insider Fabrizio Romano confirmed the move on his official X handle, posting:

“Official, confirmed. Álvaro Morata joins Como from AC Milan after leaving Galatasaray. Here’s Morata’s first pic with Como chairman Mirwan Suwarso and agent Juanma López from Niagara Agency.”

The Serie A side has already registered the contract, and Como wasted no time introducing their new striker. For Milan, it’s a clean break, with the club wishing Morata well in a short statement about their mutual agreement to part ways.

Whether this turns into another short stop or a long-term stay will depend on how quickly Morata adapts, but with Fabregas in the dugout, he might just have found the perfect environment for a fresh start.
