Crystal Palace hoping to resolve Marc Guehi’s future amid Liverpool interest

According to football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano via his official X handle claims that the player is open for new adventure away from the Selhurst Park.

He wrote:

“Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish on Marc Guehi: Of course, for players of that calibre to leave on a free, it is a problem.

“It needs a new contract or a conclusion of some kind.

“Guehi won’t sign a new deal and exit in final 20 days is likely.”

The transfer window closes on September 1 and Liverpool are looking for defensive reinforcements ahead of their Premier League title defence.

The Reds struggled throughout pre-season to keep a clean sheet. Infact, they kept just one during the 5-0 thumping of English Championship side, Stoke City. But they were on the receiving end against AC Milan as they were hammered 4-2 and on Sunday in the Community Shield they conceded twice in the game that ended 2-2 at full-time before they lost 3-2 on penalties.

Arne Slot has just Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konaté as the only two fit senior centers available to him, having sold Jarell Quansah to Bayer Leverkusen and Joe Gomez currently injured.

Liverpool are currently the only ones interested in Guehi after Newcastle United signed AC Milan’s Malick Thiaw for €40million and the Belgium international is due for a medical today.

Crystal Palace will begin their Premier League campaign against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday while Liverpool host Bournemouth at Anfield.
