Softfootball reports that Paris Saint-Germain have sealed the signing of Lucas Chevalier from Lille in a deal worth €40 million plus bonuses.

The transfer marks a major shift in PSG’s goalkeeping plans, with Gianluigi Donnarumma now expected to leave the club. Donnarumma is entering the final year of his contract and has so far rejected an extension.

The Italian international has plenty of admirers after a brilliant 2024/25 season, including his heroics in PSG’s treble-winning run, but no formal offers have landed on the table yet.

Paris Saint-Germain made the news official on their verified X account, posting:

“Paris Saint-Germain is delighted to announce the signing of Lucas Chevalier. The 23-year-old French goalkeeper, who will wear the number 30, has signed a contract with the Club until 2030.”

They also released a slick announcement video on their official X handle to mark the occasion.

Chevalier’s arrival fits PSG’s summer strategy perfectly invest in young, proven talent with room to grow. Luis Enrique has made it clear the former Lille shot-stopper will be his first-choice between the sticks, regardless of Donnarumma’s next move.

The Frenchman has been one of the standout goalkeepers in Europe over the past two seasons, earning a nomination for the Yashin Trophy after a stellar campaign in both Ligue 1 and the Champions League. His performances had also drawn interest from Manchester United and Barcelona, but PSG moved quickly to secure his signature.

Chevalier is PSG’s second summer signing after 19-year-old keeper Renato Martin joined from AS Roma. And the business isn’t done. Les Parisiens are closing in on Bournemouth centre-back Illia Zabarnyi in a deal worth €63 million.

With Chevalier’s arrival, it feels like the start of a new chapter at the Parc des Princes and possibly the end of Donnarumma’s short but dramatic PSG story.
