Having completed his £15m move to Gunners from Brentford, Christian Norgaard has made it clear that he will play anywhere Mikel Arteta wants him to play especially offensively. Softfootball reported that Norgaard, a former Brentford captain, became Arsenal’s third signing of the season.
The Danish international who will wear jersey number 16 at the Emirates, while speaking with Arsenal media in his first interview, was not decisive on where he would play n the interview even though he is a defensive midfielder.

Norgaard, the former Bee who was involved in 6 goals last season for Brentford does look like he enjoyed been involved in the goals. Norgaard narrated that:
“It’s developed a little bit over the years. I started as a more offensive player and now I’m a bit more of a holding midfielder. It’s important for me that a team has a good defensive structure and hopefully I can contribute to that.”
“Then coming off a season where I’ve had a lot of goal involvements, it’s something I really hope I can take into this season as well. I don’t know what the gaffer’s plans are with me but hopefully I can also have some freedom to join the offensive play.”
Norgaard who signed a two-year contract at Emirates Stadium, including an option for a further 12-month extension, is expected to fill a holding midfield role in Arteta’s 4-3-3 system, but he looks like he wants to give more than just being the protector of the Gunners’ defensive unit.
Last season, Arteta played Mikel Merino who is known for his midfield qualities as a striker when his team had no number 9 to start with due to injuries. Merino ended last season with 14 goals contribution in all competition.
Arsenal had signed Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard and are looking to add more to the list. Softfootball had been following the Gunners who reportedly wrapping up a deal for Chelsea’s Noni Madueke in a £52m deal.
