West Ham accept Tottenham’s £55M offer for Kudus

West Ham United have finally accepted Tottenham Hotspur’s £55m offer for Mohammed Kudus, Softfootball understands.

The former Ajax midfielder has been a long-term target for Spurs this summer. Newly appointed manager, Thomas Frank is a huge admirer of the player and insisted club chairman, Daniel Levy makes the deal happen.

According to the Sun UK, the Ghana international will be joining Tottenham on a 6-year contract after passing his medical on Thursday. Then an official announcement is set to follow.

The North London side had a £50million offer for Kudus rejected earlier in the window as they insisted on receiving the full payment on his £85m release clause.

However, the Hammers settled for £55m for the talented winger following weeks of negotiations between the two clubs. West Ham fans already fell in love with Kudus but would now hope the money from his sale will be properly reinvested.

Kudus made his debut on 1 September in a 2–1 away win against Luton Town, coming on in the 91st minute. He scored his first goals for the club in a group stage game of the 2023–24 UEFA Europa League on 21 September at home, netting a brace against Serbian side Bačka Topola in a 3–1 win.

On 9 October, Kudus scored his first Premier League goal against Newcastle United in the 89th minute to tie the game 2–2. His scissor kick goal against Brentford in November 2023 was voted West Ham’s Goal of the Month for November. He finished his debut season as the player with most successful dribbles in the Premier League with 124 dribbles.

Softfootball had earlier reported that Kudus is set to join Tottenham Hotspurs this week and now he can finally move to the club after agreement by both sides.

Kudus scored five goals and registered four assists in 35 appearances for Graham Potter’s side last season. Kudus, who joined West Ham from Ajax in 2023, has an £80 million release clause in his contract.

While the London club may be open to accepting offers below that figure, Spurs’ current offer is not expected to move the needle.
