Theo Hernández set to join Al Hilal in €25m move from AC Milan

The deal taking Theo Hernández to Al Hilal is progressing, with the two clubs settling on a €25 million fee, a situation tracked closely by Softfootball, pending medical checks and final approval.

As first reported by Fabrizio Romano, a verbal agreement was in place for over two weeks, but negotiations resumed in full lately. The 26-year-old left-back has since given the green light to the switch, having initially resisted Al Hilal’s advances earlier in the summer.

Fabrizo Romano confirmed the move on Monday, posting on his X handle.

“Theo Hernández to Al Hilal, here we go! Agreement now being sealed after verbal pact made two weeks ago. AC Milan will receive €25m transfer fee as Theo will sign his contract in the upcoming days. New left-back for Simone Inzaghi.”

Hernández is expected to undergo his medical later this week before joining Simone Inzaghi’s squad, where he will link up with fellow high-profile signings in a squad that already includes Sergej Milinković-Savić, Rúben Neves, and Ngolo Kante.

The France international informed Milan’s management in late June of his desire to explore the opportunity in Saudi Arabia, marking a shift in stance after initially showing reluctance.

Al Hilal had maintained interest throughout the summer and were confident of reaching an agreement once Milan’s competitive obligations concluded. His departure marks a significant change for Milan, who will now turn their attention to recruiting a replacement ahead of the new season.

Recall that Softfootball had earlier reported Milan’s chase for Spanish player Marco Asensio, who had a short spell at Aston Villa last season. The attacker has been a hot chase lately amongst top clubs in Italy and Turkey for his signature.

Fernanbache, had submitted an offer of €15 million (£13m/$16m) including bonuses to the current UEFA Champions League holders, but AC Milan is now looking to outbid them. Villareal is also looking to bring back the winger to his country home, but is not financially capable of battling with the other two clubs.
